3 Critical Secrets to Reaching Your Goal
It's mid-January 2020 so there's still a lot of talk about resolutions and will-power.
Here are 3 things to know up front, no matter what your goals may be:
When it comes to making lasting changes:
1. PERFECTION IS NOT POSSIBLE OR NECESSARY.
Thinking you must proceed perfectly is counter-productive, not to mention, stressful. Many a good plan has been abandoned at the first misstep because we think we've failed or "blown it."
2. BEATING YOURSELF UP IS HARMFUL.
The toxic self-criticism that follows a stumble is not just counter-productive; it is damaging. Harsh judgment takes what should be a valuable learning experience and turns it into a needless shame-producing, confidence-killing, joy-squashing barrier to change. UGH!
3. YOUR MISTAKES ARE YOUR BEST SCHOOL.
Instead of regretting that mistake, embrace it as the opportunity it is. Don't waste it. Curiously examine what just happened and leverage your new insight for next time.
Because there will be a next time - and you'll be ready for it.
So, whatever goals you're pursuing right now, please:
